The Board

The board of the tenant organisation WijWonen Delft consists of seven part-time board members. We are all still students and are committed to the living comfort of everyone who rents from DUWO Delft. We have weekly meetings in our monumental office building in Papenstraat 20W, next to this we spend a few hours a week performing our tasks.

Every six weeks we have a meeting with DUWO. Requests for advice, policy changes, major problems, finances, etc. are discussed. On a national level we work together with our sister associations in Amsterdam, Amstelveen, Leiden and Delft. DUWO-wide” requests for advice are written here and DUWO’s general policy is discussed.

DAY-TO-DAY MANAGEMENT

Olivier van Warmerdam

Olivier van Warmerdam

Chair, resigning treasurer

As the chair I lead WijWonen Delft. I am responsible for the internal functioning of the association, I supervise the follow-up of actions of fellow board members and I manage the membership administration. In addition, I handle the files that play a role at the local level. I have a lot of contact with the municipality of Delft to make living for student tenants as attractive as possible.

Finally, I maintain the website of WijWonen, and ensure that our members are kept informed in both Dutch and English through our periodic newsletter.

Fabian van der Poel

Fabian van der Poel

Aspirant treasurer

As treasurer I will safeguard the cashflow and I’ll be responsible for WijWonen’s finances. I make sure the bills are paid and that our money is distributed correctly.
Outside of these core tasks I am also involved in the organisation and my fellow board members. All to make sure the interests of the tenants are well met.

As secretary, I am responsible for the administration and reporting with regards to the association, I monitor the activities of my fellow board members and I manage the member administration. In addition to these core tasks, I take care of processes that take place on a local level. In order to do this, I am frequently in contact with congregation Delft to make the housing situation for the student tenants as pleasant as possible.

Finally, I maintain the website with the chair and I am co-responsible for our periodic newsletter.

Commissioner Policy

As Commissioner Policy I represent WijWonen’s members on a national level. I make sure that policy is made where the interests of the tenants are the number one priority. This policy-making is about renting, but also about other current topics such as internationalisation, loneliness and durability. Aside from looking after the interests, one of my other core duties is maintaining contact with DUWO and our sister organisations, to strengthen our cooperation.

The goals and duties belonging to my function fit well with my interests. In 2020 I started the MSc Urbanism; a master in urban planning, where I learn about what people consider comfortable living and how you can make that durable. This often means that I have to unite different interests to come up with a plan where all the interested parties will be involved.

Commissioner Policy

In Januari 2021 I joined WijWonen as a Commissioner Policy. This means that I am mainly concerned with matters that also play a role outside Delft, i.e. at a national level. Policies that concern, for example, new buildings, but also very actual subjects such as internationalisation and sustainability are all discussed during meetings.

Another important task here is that I maintain good communication with both DUWO and our sister organisations to ensure smooth cooperation. In my time as a board member, I will try to look after the interests of the hiring students as best as possible in the various dossiers that come along.

RESIDENTS

Jette van Schoor

Jette van Schoor

Commissioner Residents

As Commissioner Residents I am the first point of contact for the tenants, if and when they have a question or a complaint. I defend the rights and interests of the national as well as the international tenants, and it’s my job to find a fitting solution to these problems. I am able to do this by having close contacts with DUWO Delft.
By carrying out my duties, I continuously gain more knowledge about what is going on in the DUWO complexes. I can sympathize with the different situations I encounter, which makes this a function befitting me.

Besides everything regarding the tenants, the board is also investing time and effort  in the sustainability of DUWO housing; a topic I find very important and also like to contribute to.

Laura Tangelder

Laura Tangelder

Commissioner PR

Our brand awareness is very important, so the 8500+ students that we represent in Delft can find us, in case they have any questions or problems.

The function that I occupy suits my interest very well; as a child, I always wanted to be a real estate agent, after that architect. In the meantime, I found the middle ground after completing my BSc. Architectural Engineering. I chose the master Management in the Built Environment, a study that fits well with the tasks of the WijWonen board.
